LADIS

LADIS

The UMR FARE offers an elemental and stable isotope analysis service (LADIS) aimed at researchers and engineers from public scientific and technological establishments (EPST), as well as applied research institutes and higher education establishments in the field of agricultural and ecological sciences (environmental biology, plant and microbial biology, agronomy and soil science).

Field of application :

The laboratory carries out the simultaneous quantification of stable isotopes of carbon (13C/12C), nitrogen (15N/14N) and sulphur (34S/32S) from natural abundance to an isotopic excess of 10% maximum, on solid samples (soils, sediments, plants, fungi, macromolecules), liquids (drainage water, soil solution, plant extract) or gases (atmospheric aliquots).

The laboratory has state-of-the-art equipment, acquired in 2019 and integrated into the AEBB (Agro-sciences Environment Biotechnologies and Bioeconomy) regional platform. It draws on its scientific experience and technical know-how in the use and analysis of these stable isotopes.

Committed to quality assurance in research and linked to the European inter-laboratory analysis network WEPAL, through the international soil and plant sample exchange programme, LADIS is able to meet a wide range of analytical requirements, with or without scientific collaboration. It is managed by two INRAE research engineers.

30 years of experience :

Set up at the end of the 1970s at the INRA agronomy station in Laon (Aisne), the laboratory has over time become a nationally-focused unit of INRAE's Environment and Agronomy Department (now AgroEcoSystem). Since 2008, it has been a component of the UMR FARE, and is located at the Centre de Recherche en Environnement et Agronomie in Reims. The scientific themes addressed by the UMR involve the use of isotopes to study the degradation of lignocellulosic biomass and the biogeochemical cycles of carbon and nitrogen in the soil/plant/atmosphere continuum.

Today, with over 30 years' experience behind it, LADIS provides this sample analysis, support and sample preparation training service for INRAE, CIRAD and Terres INOVIA research units, as well as for French and foreign academic bodies (e.g. Université de Marseille and Université de Reims, ISARA Lyon, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, etc.).
