10 December 2019 - Françoise Berzin elected to the French Group of Rheology Board of Directors

Founded in 1964, the French Group of Rheology (GFR) is member of the International Committee of Rheology and the European Society of Rheology (ESR). Its main objectives are to contribute to the development of studies and research related to rheology and to promote dissemination to the scientific community and the transfer to industry of the progress made in its various fields.

Rheology is the science of the flow of matter, the constraints that must be applied to it and the modifications of the resulting structure. Universal, it is found in all areas of human activity. Its applications range from the shaping of materials to the behaviour of living matter, including the handling of tires and the quality of cosmetic products. Its economic impact is therefore considerable. Interdisciplinary, it uses mechanics, physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, which provide it with its basic tools and it is useful in each of these disciplines.

The activities of the GFR are numerous:

-          Organization of a national congress which annually brings together more than 100 participants from the academic and industrial world;

-          Organization of Young Rheologists Days;

-          Edition of Rhéologie, peer-reviewed scientific journal, containing also the GFR Life Information Bulletin: congresses, training events, awards, etc.

Françoise will be part of the GFR Board of Directors for 4 years and will also be co-editor of Rhéologie.
