FARE scientists out in force at the Lignobiotech conference in Toulouse!

The 7th edition of the Lignobiotech conference, first held in Reims in 2010, took place in Toulouse from 14 to 17 October 2024.

LignoBiotech addresses the main themes of lignocellulose bioconversion and recovery, bringing together the scientific, industrial and governmental communities involved in these societal and economic issues to develop new biotechnological processes for the production of biomaterials, chemicals and biofuels.

No fewer than 8 people from our laboratory took part in this international conference, which brought together more than a hundred participants from every continent.

The work covered a wide range of topics from our laboratory (photos of speakers below):

  • Gabriel Paës (research director): Dynamical assessment of fluorescent probes mobility in poplar cell walls reveals nanopores govern saccharification
  • Caroline Rémond (professor): Multi-steps biocatalytic strategy to produce a portfolio of biomolecules of interest from lignocellulosic biomass
  • Sofiene Abdellaoui (assistant professor): Lignin bio-electrorefinery
  • Corinne Ivaldi (research engineer): Metabolic studies allow the identification of dissimilar behaviour of ligninolytic bacteria on different technical lignins / Baterial synthesis of bioplastics using lignocellulosic biomass as a carbon source
  • Edwige Audibert (PhD student): Impact of structural and morphological features of industrially steam exploded woody biomass on bioethanol production
  • Florian Fortuna (engineer): Probing the role of hemicellulase glycosylation in plant cell wall degradation: Targeted glycosylation through click chemistry and activity monitoring in complex substrates

The next edition will take place in Copenhagen in 2026, and we'll be there!
